Fruit & Veggie Detox Diet

Feeling bloated and sluggish after ingesting all those processed foods? It's no wonder, there are toxins present in the food most of us consume on a daily basis. Over time, these toxins can result in infections, headaches, fatigue, digestive problems, ulcers and even cancer. You can rid your body of these toxins by detoxing. A fruit and veggie detox is rapidly becoming a popular way to cleanse your system.

Function

A fruit and veggie detox diet is used to cleanse your system of all the toxins you ingest on a regular basis. It can be used to jump start weight loss, discover food allergies and regulate your digestive processes.

Time Frame

The length of your detox will depend on the restrictiveness of the diet and the level of detox you choose. Some detox diets will only last two or three days, while others last a week and can evolve into a raw food diet.

Benefits

Doing a fruit and veggie detox diet will have a multitude of benefits, including noticeably clearer skin, nails less prone to breakage, a marked increase in energy and stronger, healthier hair.

Water

Water is your go-to beverage during a fruit and veggie detox. It helps keep you hydrated and also rids your body of harmful toxins.

Considerations

It is best to detox when fresh fruits and vegetables are readily available; winter is not the time to detox. Also be sure to consult your doctor before you begin a fruit and veggie detox diet, especially if you have any pre-existing health conditions.

Warning

Although a fruit and veggie detox diet can be used to cleanse your digestive system and initiate a weight-loss regimen, it is not to be used as a long-term diet. By doing so you put yourself at risk for developing an eating disorder and other serious health issues.
