Healthy Liquid Diet

Some dieters thrive on liquid nutrition plans, mostly thanks to their convenience. Additionally, liquid diets are superior in that if all your meals are supposed to be shakes, it makes "cheating" with an unhealthy solid meal less likely. But, not all liquid diets are created equal. Some are devoid in necessary vitamins and minerals, which can, over time, cause lethargy and weariness. So is there a liquid diet that dodges this pitfall?

Enter the V-Diet

The "V," or Velocity, Diet was originally designed by Chris Shugart as a fat-loss blitz invented to help him attain peak physical condition for the summer months. Since its original inception, the diet has undergone a number of revisions. Currently, it is on its third iteration, and comes complete with a meal plan calculator and accompanying workout plan--all for the low, low price of $0. Of course, the supplements necessary to accompany the plan cost money, however, the cost is offset by the amount you would otherwise spend on groceries. So for some, completing the V-Diet is a break-even proposition monetarily.

Nuts and Bolts of the Plan

The diet is officially 28 days long, but this is followed by a transition period of several weeks, while solid meals are gradually reintroduced into your diet. You need not worry that this is a starvation diet--dieters consume five protein shakes on non-workout days (six on workout days), which is a far cry from the pittance afforded by most liquid diets. Calories, too, are kept reasonably high. A 200 pound man undergoing the diet would hover between 1600 and 2000 calories a day, which for some of us, is right around what we regularly eat anyway. The diet is designed specifically with health in mind--protein is hardly the only macronutrient consumed. Healthy fats are had in the form of fish oil, flaxseeds, and natural butters. This keeps the body in proper hormonal balance. The diet also incorporates "Superfood," which is a freeze dried powder, which acts as a fruit and vegetable replacement. One scoop equates to multiple servings of fruit and veggies, which is undoubtedly more than the dieter was consuming daily prior to starting.

Extra Benefits

But the real trick to the V-Diet is its effect on food tastes and cravings. Psychologically, it takes around 28 days to kick a bad habit. By removing unhealthy foods from the diet for that long, the dieter reconditions his tastes to appreciate the rich flavors present in natural foods, making it easy to continue living a healthy lifestyle even after the conclusion of the diet. So there you have it--a liquid diet containing a surplus of vitamins and minerals that actually reprogram your body to live a better life long after the diet is finished.
