For example, run a mile one day at a normal speed, and then run a mile and a half the next day at a faster speed. Another option to increase intensity is running on a flat ground for a mile one day, and running up a hill for one mile another day. While the distance is the same, the intensity and type of running differs. The variation prevents weight loss plateaus from the body adjusting to the same workload.

    Change eating habits. Running alone will burn calories, but effective weight loss requires long term healthy diet plans as well. Minimize sweets and simple carbohydrates to focus on a well-balanced diet.
