Body Detox Recipe

Detoxification is beneficial to the body because it helps cleanse the digestive system and organs of impurities. And while the body has a natural detoxing system, comprised of the kidneys, liver, skin, lungs and colon, it only does part of the job. You can give yourself a total internal body cleansing with some do-it-yourself recipes that are easy to make at home.

Psyllium Husk and Body Detox Recipes

    Psyllium husk is a natural herb that helps remove buildup and toxins from the digestive system and colon. Taken as either a supplement in capsule form or as a powder, the psyllium husk is often recommended because it attracts toxins from the intestines and colon and pushes them out in a similar fashion as a laxative.
    Being an ideal source of fiber, psyllium husk helps regulate digestive systems suffering the effects of a poor diet. While taking psyllium husk as part of a body detox recipe it is important to drink at least 64 ounces of water, since the herb soaks up additional moisture from the intestines on its way out. To keep things regular after a detox, be sure to get at least 25 grams of fiber each day to prevent buildup and improve digestion.
    If you choose to use psyllium husk in its natural powder form, add it to smoothies or juices and drink plenty of water before and after to stay hydrated.

Probiotics

    Be sure to include probiotics in any detox diet to keep your system balanced because they deliver healthy bacteria that can be used by your body to fight against harmful bacteria, such as salmonella and E. coli.
    To make sure you are including enough probiotics in your body detox recipe, add any type of yogurt, which contains acidophilus, to a smoothie. Acidophilus helps the body fight against parasites and bacteria found in the gastrointestinal tract, as well as with digestion.

Body Detox Recipe

    While on a detox, it is important to consume many fruits and vegetables to get enough nutrition, vitamins, minerals and fiber. These elements will keep energy levels up, as well as flush out the system and provide antioxidants to counteract disease and cancer-causing free radicals. You can juice any of your favorite fruits or vegetables to create a healthy drink, but adding a few simple ingredients will provide a boost to the immune system, higher levels of antioxidants and be a welcome break from plain juices.
    One recipe that is easy consists of 2 cups of strawberries, 1 cup of silken tofu, 1 teaspoon of honey and half an orange peel. Blend these ingredients together thoroughly until they are in a liquid form, and enjoy. You may use any fruit you like, including apples, bananas or melon.
    Strawberry is especially beneficial during a body detox because it contains a lot of vitamin C, which purifies the blood and boosts the immune system.
    Another recipe calls for 8 ounces of apple or orange juice, 1/2 cup of the fruit of your choice, such as banana, blueberries or strawberries, 1 tablespoon of heart-healthy flaxseed or olive oil, and 4 ounces of purified water. Blend these ingredients together to create an easy yet delicious drink.
